Away v Chaddesley Corbett on 17 August - Lost by 1 wicket The tour got underway with a trip to Andy Martin's club Chaddesley Corbett and Boardy assumed the role of skipper. We batted first and scored a competitive 188-7 in our allotted 40 overs with Boardy top scoring with 73 off 63 balls and Witho (39 off 27) and Bodger (25) also chipping in with some useful runs. Congratulations go to Witho who passed the 1000 run milestone for the club during his innings. Chaddesley squeezed home by just one wicket with two balls to spare as a hatful of dropped catches proved costly. Wessy returned the best figures of 3-21 and Butchy (2-23) and Huddy (2-39) also bowled well. Away v Birlingham on 18 August - Lost by 5 wickets After an evening of clubbing in Worcester City Centre we set off for our first ever fixture against Birlingham and Butchy took over the role of skipper. We batted first and after a long interruption for rain, after we had reached 68-1 off 14 overs, the match was reduced to 25 overs a side and we managed to reach a competitive total of 151-6 mainly thanks to Jimmer who scored 72 off just 61 balls (which is his highest ever score for Blagdon) and Witho who scored 21 off 17 balls. Birlingham reached the victory target with ten balls to spare and for the loss of five wickets as Wessy (1-20), Caddy (1-23), Statto (1-26) and Delsy (1-31) shared the wickets between them. Away v Pershore on 19 August - Lost by 30 runs After a more subdued evening which was spent in the wonderful 'The Cricketers' pub in Worcester City Centre and a top Indian restaurant we travelled to Pershore for the last match of the tour and Jimmer took over the captaincy. Pershore batted first and scored a healthy 213-5 in their allotted 40 overs with Caddy returning the best figures of 2-14 and Butchy (1-14) and Huddy (1-37) being the other wicket takers. Butchy was unable to bat in our run chase due to a hand injury and we unfortunately fell 31 runs short with Jimmer top scoring again with 42 not out off just 27 balls which meant he finished the tour with the excellent average of 125 scored at a rate of 128 runs per 100 balls. He was ably supported by Wessy (33) and the ever improving Witho (32 off 26). All in all it was a great tour despite the results and a big THANK YOU goes to Butchy and Wessy for organising it. A A
