Well everyone, What a splendid evening this turned out to be, not only was it a really enjoyable event but in terms of it's purpose was a resounding success. Thanks go to all those taking part, the children for their efforts in getting sponsored and of course making the runs on the night, those parents/managers/coaches for their help in supervising things on the ground/in the pavilion and especially to Chris Strong who organised and coordinated the event in his usual impeccable manner. The end result, after toting up all the forms and other contributions, is that the fantastic sum of £1,282.50 has been pledged towards the bowling machine and with promises of a number of extra donations from parents of children not able to be there on the night the final figure will be closer to £1,400, which means we are already two thirds of the way there. If there is anyone who has missed the opportunity to contribute and would still like to do so then Chris or I would be delighted to hear from you too :-)) Of course there is now the minor detail of getting all the pledged sponsorship money actually collected. Your children will need their validated sponsorship forms to do this but many of these were left in the pavilion afterwards!. Chris is, I believe, busily re-distributing these so that hopefully the monies can be collected and returned to him by next Tuesday's coaching session on the 4th July. Remember getting the 'Gift Aid' box ticked on the sponsorship form will also enable us to claim tax back on the sponsors donations! Meanwhile, given the marvellous response received, we are now already making plans to proceed with the purchase of the bowling machine, and as was our stated intention with this exercise, we would hope to have this additional facility available and in use within a matter of weeks and certainly well before the season ends. Once again thanks to you all for this marvellous effort, it makes it very worthwhile knowing that this cricket club is being so well supported by the parents and the generations of children who will in time become it's future.
