The 2nd XI played the mighty Gloucestershire team today which included professionals Rob Cunliffe and Roger Sillence. We put together a great performance and nearly clinched a surprise victory but ended up losing by just one wicket off the final ball of the match.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first we managed to reach a competitive total of 76-5 in our allotted overs but this was mainly due to 34 extras being bowled!!

Gloucestershire got off to a good start in their run chase but tight bowling from Robbo (0-13 in three overs) kept us in the game. Tippo then put in an amazing spell of 3-10 in his three overs to almost snatch victory but Rob Cunliffe scored a single off the final ball of the match to end our winning run of three matches.

Immediately afterwards, the 1st XI played Backwell Flax Bourton and bowled first. We restricted them to 73-4 in their allotted 12 overs with Robbo (1-16) being the only wicket taker.

With five runs needed off the last ball to win we could only manage a single off a run out to finish on 70 all out with Huddy top scoring with 22 and Buckers (15) also batting well.
