Dear Parents/Players,
Further to my previous email on this subject thank you to those who needed to respond to it and based on that feedback we have made our decision to enter the same number of teams as last season in the NSYCL i.e. 2 @ U11, 1 @ U13 and 1 @ U15. These entries will be confirmed at the NSYCL AGM next Tuesday 23 February. In case there are any others of you who omitted to notify me last time round if your child(ren) will not be re-joining us or will only be available to play on an occasional basis then PLEASE let me know no later than Monday 22 February. Hopefully at this stage there won't be anything, if at all, significant enough to alter our decision.
Just to give you advance warning before I distribute the usual beginning of season Newsletter during March please make a note of the following :-
Indoor nets*. There will be four Friday evening sessions at Chew Valley Leisure Centre for U13s through to U18s between 8pm - 9pm on 19th and 26th March and 9th and 16th April.
Registration ONLY nights will be on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st March from 6pm until 7.30pm in the Cricket Pavilion. It is a requirement for all players up to and including those who are under 18 as at the 1st September last year (2009) to register with the club in order to play during the coming season. Naturally we are keen to see as many as possible of last season players rejoin but will also be pleased to welcome any new players from age 7 upwards.
Outdoor nets will commence at the Cricket ground on Tuesday 20th April for Junior (Kwiketers)/U11's and Wednesday 21st April for U13/U15's and over.
*As we were unable to secure a suitably timed indoor nets slot for the U11's Tony George and coaches will be looking to either use Blagdon Village School Hall or our mobile net outdoors a few weeks prior to the start of our normal fixed outdoor nets sessions above. Further information will be communicated on this nearer the time. The indoor nets details are already on our website, which incidentally, if you are not already aware, has been given a spruce up over the winter!
As regards the Youth section of the website once this seasons youth league fixtures are announced (not likely to be until Mid April!) they will be viewable via direct links for each team to the relevant pages on our play cricket web site. All our youth teams results/statistics from year 2000 onwards are also available via the 'Season reviews' dropdown under the youths tab. 'Contact details' and 'Coaching and KWIK cricket' will be updated with 2010's information in due course.
To try and assist in this seasons recruitment most of the above information is being circulated in the March editions of the local press/parish magazines. If you or your child(ren) know of anyone new interested in coming to play for us then please let me know. We are particularly keen to attract more U15's as their numbers from last season have been depleted by a massive 16 players who have moved up a year!
In respect of those now over 15 please note that I will be contacting you directly over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth co-ordination in integrating as many of you as possible into our Seniors - Blades/2nd XI and perhaps in some cases 1st XI teams! Meanwhile please take advantage of our early seasons indoor nets sessions, as detailed above, so I look forward to also seeing as many of you as possible at Chew Valley Leisure Centre starting on the 19th March!
Finally, it has been arranged to host a day game (11am onwards) on Monday 2nd August against an U12's team (last years U11's) from Kings Langley C.C. who are touring our area that week. The format has not yet been decided i.e. whether to play 30/35 overs - use normal cricket rules or Barrington type etc but although it is a long way off can those of you in that age group (under 12 as at 1st September 2009) pencil this date in for possible selection to play or if you are likely to be on holiday at that time please let us know at registration.
Kind regards

PS I am likely to be changing my ISP and therefore email address(es) sometime over the coming weeks so that I am not restricted to only being able to distribute to a maximum of 20 addressees at any one time, which has been an absolute bind for me in having to send out the same email at least 4 times to cover all the youth club membership :-((
Obviously as and when that happens I will inform everyone. |
