This was an eventful season for John & Chris as they took on the onerous task of running this team for the first time. Despite having an apparent abundance of players (20) plus 6 or so eligible KWIK cricketers to call on at the start of the season they actually had to call off the very first game because a team could not be raised! This happened on one other occasion too during the season as events conspired against them due to a mass exodus of players to other activities and holidays. After a shaky start losing 2 consecutive games, they won 3 on the trot before hitting another losing sequence of 3. However the season was finished on a high of 4 victories and showed the improving confidence and techniques which were finally being gained from their coaching sessions and playing as a team, rather than individuals. Credit for this, apart from the coaching by Paul, must go to John & Chris who instilled the right attitude and approach to the game, on the pitch, that all youngsters need to learn at this age!

As the league table shows, for such a young team we achieved a great performance of 7 wins and 6 losses and finally finished in joint 5th place, having at one stage been in joint third place, before the end of season to sort out of points for un-played games. Undefeated Failand retained the title again for the third season running.

So in conclusion a special thanks to John Huggins for taking over as Manager of this team and doing such a remarkable job, together with Chris Strong as his assistant, in turning them into a ‘force to be reckoned with’! My appreciation also goes to Coach Paul Lawrence for additionally running the KWIK cricket proficiency sessions and awards (see below) which we re-introduced this season. Thanks too to all the parents who helped with the refreshment duties, transportation etc, without whose support we would find it hard to cope. Finally we must mention our Youth Sponsors recorded above whose contributions are a big help in funding all our teams activities and last but not least thanks to our groundsman Fid without whom we could not play the games.
