MATCH
REPORT
A beautiful summers evening greeted our visitors Cleeve who, along
with Nailsea, will no doubt figure as one of the leading contenders
to win the League title this season.
Having been
put in to bat, we got off to a bad start with an un-necessary run
out in the 2nd over without a score on the board. Come the 4th over
we were already 6-3. Sam Honeywill (6) helped steady things for
a while until his departure in the 12th over left us groggily poised
on 32-7 as batsmen the other end and immediately following him were
dismissed for ducks. This time it was Alex Ray's turn to hit the
only double figure score (13) as he helped us manage to avoid what
looked like being our lowest total yet as we recovered, if that's
the right word, to finish on 55-9. This was the third consecutive
match we have showed our now legendary consistency as A.N.Extras
top scored yet again! The only improvement was that we limited the
ducks to 5 but this was obviously not going to be a defendable target.
Cleeve
lost no time proving that as they started the run chase and soon
had 32 on the board by the 5th over with Le Mare (32no) punishing
anything loose. Simon Hill (1-22) managed our only bowling success
but the remaining 24 runs required were easily knocked off without
further loss by the 9th over and inflicted another comprehensive
defeat by 9 wickets.
At this rate it is difficult to see where our first win is going
to come from?
