Match Summary For various reasons including the weather, the corners, school camp week, and Weston-super-Mare double booking their pitch this was Blagdons first game, right in the middle of the cricket season, for 5 weeks! Blagdon lost the toss and Cheddar decided to bat first. Blagdon in the first few overs confined Cheddar to a handful of runs with Martyn Mail and Harry Church getting the openers out who scored 8 a piece. Cheddar only had one batsman scoring double figures and that was their no 4 Ollie Caton who scored 32 at which point Jack Tickoo got the important breakthrough. Blagdon produced good bowling and fielding from Jordan Payne taking 2 wickets and Alex Fudge 1, as well as each being responsible for a run out. Blagdon gave away 13 wides with some erratic bowling pushing up Cheddar’s final score to a respectable 87. Debut wicketkeeper Andy Collier looked really at home behind the stumps. In reply Blagdon opened steadily keeping up with the 4 an over required run rate. Tom Blanchard took on the lone role of pushing the run rate along living uncharacteristically dangerously by being dropped in the field on several occasions eventually being bowled for 31 runs having struck 2 sixes!. Newcomers Tom Hunt and Adam Merrick got 10 and 8 runs respectively but after the 20 allotted overs with plenty of wickets in hand Blagdon fell 7 runs short suffering their first league defeat of the season.
