| Match Report: Blagdon batted first having won the toss opening with Wesley Cox and Tom Blanchard. Wesley Cox (1 ) was bowled in the first over and then no. 3 batsman Clayton Davies ( 0 ) was also cleaned bowled the following over giving Blagdon a very poor start to the innings! Opener Tom Blanchard was left to dig-in and give the innings some sort of stability and he soon had runs on the board scoring 35 runs including 6 glorious fours before being dubiously given out as stumped. Will Yard ( 11 ) was soon out as was Archie Wall ( 0 ), lbw, making his first appearance of the season leaving Blagdon with no recognised batsmen left and looking to score well under 100 runs. A fairly new recruit Andy Collier, batting no. 8 came to Blagdon's rescue putting on 28 valuable runs to take Blagdon up to a very respectable score in the end after 20 overs of 126 - 8. Blagdon bowlers now had something to bowl against as long as they kept things tight as 6.5 an over, normally takes some doing. unfortunately the opening bowlers Will Yard and Tom Blanchard were both rather expensive off their respective 3 overs with some erratic deliveries making it difficult for Blagdon to keep the run rate within 6.5 an over. Martyn Mail got the break through first wicket bowling Claverham's opener S. Brellisford, ( 34 ). The only other wicket fell to Alex Fudge who clean bowled the opener S.Gilbody for 28. Blagdon's fielding was pretty poor giving away vital runs enabling Claverham to scrape a victory with 2 balls of the innings left in what should have been a comfortable victory for Blagdon, currently riding high in the league table! |
