| Match Report: Top of the table Clevedon batted first on another hot summers night ( what a fantastic summer !! ) but were soon in trouble with opener James Richards( 0 ) being cleaned bowled in the first over by an on fire fast bowler Ed Williams! Clevedon then settled down to make steady progress with S Wilson putting on 19 runs before falling victim to the bowling of Clayton Davies ( well caught by U11 player playing up - Jack Newman ). Clevedon's U13 Somerset County player Matt Carpenter batted well for his 43 before being well run out by Blagdon. Another Clevedon U13 Somerset County player George Cause was there at the end of Clevedon's modest total of 114 runs on an undefeated 26 n.o. Clevedon were well aware that Blagdon had their 2 leading run makers unavailable ( Tom Blanchard and Will Yard ) and with their Somerset county and corner players on display Clevedon seemed pretty confident that they would contain Blagdon to a lowly score. Blagdon's batsman had other ideas and openers Alex Fudge ( first time opening this season ) and Clayton Davies rose to the challenge in magnificent fashion!! Blagdon's no 1 batsman Alex Fudge acted as the anchor man batting for the full 19 overs very steadily for his 27 n.o. leaving Clayton Davies to see off everything that Clevedon's bowling attack could throw at him including the fast bowling of Clevedon's county player Matt Carpenter. Clayton Davies scored a fantastic 75 n.o. including 11 fours and a six!. Alex Fudge ( scored 2 fours ) and Clayton Davies sent Blagdon u13s to a famous victory on Clevedon's home soil knocking a dent in Clevedon's challenge for the title sending them to their 2nd defeat of the season overhauling Clevedon's innings in the !9th over with 118 -0 !!! Blagdon have now won 7 games and now have 15 points having collected one from the abandoned game earlier in the week against WSM Wizards. |
