| Match Report:, On a glorious June evening Blagdon capt: Will Yard won the toss and decided to bat first. Our leading runscorers Tom Blanchard and Will Yard, who were no:2 and no:3 respectively, unusually were both dismissed very cheaply early on in the innings. Ed Williams at no:4, playing his first game of the season for Blagdon tried to hold the innings together and mustered 21 runs in an overall poor Blagdon batting display as we were skittled out for a disappointing 64 runs. Our bowlers had a very tall order to try and contain Congresbury to a mere 65 runs to win, but through some excellent tight bowling and fielding at one stage with 4 wickets down for 28 runs it looked as if we could, against all the odds, still win the game. However, Congresbury’s no:4 and no:6 batsmen dug in and overhauled our meagre total with over 4 overs to spare. |
